Get a taste of history this fall at the Thomasville History Center. Wine expert Wayne Crawford, will present a lecture exploring the history of wine making in Georgia while you sip some samples and cleanse your palate. The Thomasville History Center is excited to welcome Mr. Crawford for his lecture and wine tasting on Tuesday, September 24 at 7:30pm. Audience members must register in advance for this program and all attendees must be aged 21+. Registration is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Wayne Crawford had a long career as an officer in the US Army Infantry and developed his passion for wine and wine writing during many military tours overseas. Crawford has lived in Georgia for over twenty years and spent the last twelve years writing a wine column for Big Canoe’s Smoke Signals newspaper in North Georgia. He is a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) with the Society of Wine Educators, a French-wine scholar (FWS) and holds a Master Certificate in Champagne from the Wine Scholar guild. He is an active associate member in the Georgia Wine Producers organization and frequently judges wine competitions in the South. He authored Georgia Vineyards and Wineries a Historical Guide to Modern Georgia Wines released in 2018.
